After a good night’s sleep in our AirBnB in El Dorado near Tunapuna we take a two hour maxi taxi journey to the popular Maracas Bay.
We spend a blissful day of sandy beach, bake and shark, sea bathing, rum punch and total hotness to kick off our adventure.
We travel through the mountains with breathtaking views of the bay as we descend down a winding road through thick lush vegetation including giant bamboo.
Trinidad’s most famous beach is a rightful tourist attraction palm tree fringed, bake & shark aplenty, drinks, music, loungers and parasols. A blissful day in the sun and the sea.
The next day Friday we visit Macqueripe Beach in Chagaramus. By contrast a more local setting. A small bay accessed down steep winding steps with crashing waves dominating and lush vegetation offering shady spots for less touristy family picnics and we witness a newborn sea baptism ritual.
Our two beach days provide a perfect contrast with both so different yet equally beautiful.
