Tobago is truly beautiful and so different to Trinidad, calmer more sanitised, manicured and touristy with the rough edges smoothed out.
After a 20 minute flight from Piarco we arrive in Tobago after dark and take a short taxi ride to our ‘beach’ hotel.
The calm hotel atmosphere is very different to our experience back in Trinidad with a mix of mainly tourists and Trinis relaxing post carnival and dining around the neon lit pool and bar.
We have dinner, go for a short walk then retire to our room for a well deserved rest.
On waking we are presented with the most stunning views of the ocean’s turquoise waters, pristine clipped lawns dotted with picture perfect palm trees, and private spots with colourful wooden benches for those meditative moments.
No Place Like Home
Woi! The people of Tobago know how to fete.
So in the evening we go to the Sam Cooler & Cocktails fete (pronounced ‘fett’) in Bon Accord not far from our hotel.
We have no idea what to expect all we know was that it is outside; quite expensive at more than £40 a ticket; but food is included and you can bring your own drinks hence the ‘cooler’ reference.
What a party! A dynamic stage show with top soca artists and a live drummer, delicious mini plates of well cooked Trini specialities, and a spacious beautifully lit arena makes this well organised event one of our adventure highlights.
We jump up to Lyrikal, Pumpa, and 2024 Road March competition winner Mical Teja who sings his popular carnival anthem DNA.
Location 3
Crown Point Hotel is a 3 star beach hotel very close to Tobago airport.
It can never compare with our gorgeous exclusive AirBnB in Valsayn but the breathtaking views of the sea, and exquisite landscape more than make up for the slightly tired hotel decor.
Facing the perfectly picturesque Store Bay the Crown Point Hotel is mere minutes to the white sandy beach epitomising a typical affordable tropical tourist destination.
